System Safety Monitor 2.0.8.583
System Safety Monitor (SSM) is ‘Host based Intrusion Prevention System,’ software. This kind of software protects a system against malware and hacker attacks. SSM puts a lot of onus on user decision and this is where the trouble begins. SSM basically asks you about every little program that is trying to launch either by you or automated by the system. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem, but considering that every .EXE file has several dependencies such as DLLs and other supporting files, SSM asks you about every one of these files. So that means every new program launched has minimum 3 clicks more to it. This gets tiring after a while which makes the user instantly stop caring about program alerts and blindly clicking to start a program.
SSM of course is not at fault here, but it does nothing to ease the pain either. It takes no onus to give default application rules. SSM also does not help the user in anyway by advising which application should or should not be allowed which adds to the user’s woes.
For: Keeps your system extremely secure, easy to use.
Against: Extremely annoying due to constant pop-ups.
