Fiat Palio

Getting old now, but still a fine car. Go on, give it a chance.

Unfairly discriminated against, the Palio’s one of the best hatches around. Yes, it has a reputation for thirst, but it’s good to drive, comfortable and solid, comfortable and solid. Under the bonnet you have the option to choose three engines. The 1.2 petrol and 1.9 diesel are sluggish but have acceptable fuel economy, the 1.6 is a bomb, but thirsty.
On the road, the Palio displays excellent balance between ride and handling. Steering is feelsome as well. The bad bit is the wide turning circle. Decent amounts of space inside but not class-leading. Seats are awkwardly shaped though and cumbersome to adjust. It can be an irritant over long journeys.
The best part is its tank-like solidity. Be assured the Palio will go on with minimum rattles. Cabin materials are fairly durable as well, however, they tend to look cheap and shiny. Average equipment levels here. No fancy geegaws, but a nice line of sporty touches.
